Air Jackson
Air Jackson is a Seattle-based duo featuring producer/keyboardist PJ Anderson and guitarist Miguel Diaz. Combining elements of new wave, electronica and noise, Air Jackson makes lyrical post-punk pop with a menacing, psychedelic tremor.
Anderson began recording what would eventually become Air Jackson's debut LP in 2010. In 2011, guitarist Louis Jones joined. Over the course of the next several years, they spent much more time in Anderson's home studio than on stage, meticulously tracking the record with an 8-track reel-to-reel tape machine. Production finally ended in 2014. Jones left the band after completion of the album. Following a long hiatus, Anderson re-formed the group in 2016 with Diaz on guitar.
Air Jackson's sound takes a strong influence from the likes of Cocteau Twins, Sonic Youth, Björk, Underworld and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Their songs marry sequenced and unsequenced synths and drum machines along with atmospheric, effects-heavy guitars. The music explores sonic contrasts: machine-made and human-performed, analog and digital, organic and artificial, quiet and loud.
Air Jackson's debut LP, Terror Wave, will be released on Centagon Records in July 2016.
